Flea Had To Relearn Bass For New Red Hot Chili Peppers Album

While speaking to Rolling Stone, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea revealed he had to relearn how to play the bass after breaking his arm snowboarding and how it affected the recording of the Getaway album.

According to NME, Flea suffered nerve damage and underwent major surgery then six months of rehabilitation. He had to relearn the bass after he reportedly “struggled to rebuild dexterity on his instrument”.

“I went to play one note and a bunch of pain shot up my arm,” — “I tried to play the simplest things and my hand just wouldn’t do it. It felt like I let everyone down, because we couldn’t work on the record.”
