Michelle Williams to Play Janis Joplin in New Biopic

The turbulent and artistic life of Janis Joplin will play out in director Sean Durkin’s new biopic Janis. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle Williams is set to play the legend herself.

The film is based on the biography Love, Janis, written by Joplin’s younger sister using previously unpublished letters from the late musician to friends and family.

It might be too soon to break out the popcorn, though. The biopic has been in the works for over a decade. At one point, even P!nk was considered to star.

Fans of the blues-rock legend also have Get It While You Can with Amy Adams to look forward to…if it also gets off the ground after development holds.
