Former American Idol singer Adam Lambert rocked the stage with Queen on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Corden confirmed on his show that legendary band Queen will be doing a North American summer tour with Adam Lambert as frontman. When Corden heard the news he announced:
“It should be a British man.” He then continues to brag, “I know I would be a better front man than him.”
With that remark, Lambert walks across stage challenging Corden to a sing-off to prove who’s the better man. The two go head-to-head singing Queen’s greatest hits. Lambert fires it off with “We Will Rock You”. An unimpressed Corden takes it away with “Don’t Stop Me Now” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. When Lambert breaks out “Another One Bites The Dust”, it left Corden in the dust. Finally, Corden confesses that Lambert’s performance was unbelievable and amazing. Thus, crowning him champion. In the end, they both sang “Somebody to Love” as a duet.
Lambert auditioned for American Idol in 2009 with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. He’s been a fan of Queen and was asked by founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor to be featured in the band. The last time Queen toured with a singer other than Freddie Mercury was Paul Rogers. Rogers had his run with Queen for 5 years (2004-2009) and now Lambert is in the spotlight.
The first Queen + Adam Lambert official world tour happened in 2014-2015. They’re making a return for a 25-city tour in 2017. Queen + Adam Lambert will be here in San Jose at the SAP Center on June 29th.
As the almighty original lead singer of Queen Freddie Mercury once sang: “Show Must Go On.”
