Max & Iggor Cavalera Return To Roots Live at Slim’s in San Francisco 03-03-17

My brother Tommy and I have grown up loving thrash metal and of course one of our favorite bands is Sepultura. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to see Sepultura live with founding members, brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera. When we found out that Max and Iggor were touring in support of the 20th anniversary of their last album together in Septultura “Roots” and playing every song from the record, we had to go. The Max and Iggor Cavalera Return To Roots tour made a stop in the Bay Area to perform at the legendary Slim’s in San Francisco.

The day before the concert, Chasta and I interviewed Max Cavalera. Listen to the interview below.

The show itself was incredible. It felt like a religious experience. Finally, I was able to see in person songs that I thought would never be performed live again.

Below are some videos I filmed last night. Sorry for the shaky camera. I was standing outside one of the craziest pits I have ever seen in person.

Max and Iggor Cavalera performing “Roots Bloody Roots.”

Max and Iggor Cavalera performing “Spit.”

Max and Iggor Cavalera performing “Lookaway” with Mike Patton from Faith No More who made a rare guest appearance on stage.

Max and Iggor Cavalera performing a drum off.

Max and Iggor Cavalera performing “Beneath The Remains” and a few other Sepultura classics.

Max and Iggor Cavalera covering Motorhead’s “Ace Of Spades.”

Max and Iggor Cavalera covering Venom’s “Black Metal.”

It was a fun night and Slim’s was packed. Thank you Max and Iggor Cavalera for doing this tour. A real treat to the longtime fans of Sepultura.

Here is the interview Chasta and I did with Max Cavalera backstage at the 2016 Aftershock Festival in Sacramento.
