Tool’s April Fools joke
Tool decided to prank fans on April 1st with a fake announcement that Sammy Hagar would be joining the band as a replacement vocalist and songwriter for Maynard James Keenan. According to Loudwire, Keenan even made a convincing statement about it:
In a new posting, the band suggest that Hagar is a temporary replacement, with Keenan adding, “There seems to be this invisible speed limit we’ve been holding ourselves to. I believe Sammy can help us get all pistons firing and break some sound barriers.”
Steve Perry will not perform with Journey at Induction Ceremony
With Journey’s upcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it was announced that Steve Perry will unfortunately not reunite with the band to perform, according to Consequences of Sound:
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain said Perry will be there to accept the award, but will then “skedaddle” once that’s done. He confirms that Journey’s current vocalist, Arnel Pineda will “represent very well, like he always does.” He goes on to note Pineda’s commitment. “It’s amazing because Arnel has been consistently on the road for 10 years now,” Cain said. “I don’t think any singer in the band has stayed on the road as long as Arnel has. When we think back to the Steve Perry days, he wasn’t in the band for 10 years straight, faithfully being the road singer.”
