New Found Glory Live at Slim’s in San Francisco

Can you believe New Found Glory has been around 20 years? Me neither, yes, it’s true that one band we all loved in High School is still going strong in 2017 and I saw first hand why they are the Kings of Pop Punk. Last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, New Found Glory played three sold out shows at Slim’s in San Francisco. New Found Glory are out celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band by playing all over the country and playing albums in their entirely from their catalog.

I went to New Found Glory’s first two nights at Slim’s and it was a fun trip down memory lane. New Found Glory has always been one of my favorite bands and like most people in attendance have been fans of them since I was in High School.

Along with New Found Glory’s 20th anniversary as a band, they are also promoting the release of their ninth studio album “Make Me Sick” which is out now through Hopeless Records.

New Found Glory sounded amazing and had so much energy on stage, everyone was running around all night long. Only downside from their performances is now that they are four piece (Guitarist Steve Klein left the band in 2013) when they play their older songs live, that were originally recorded with two guitars, the songs sound not as full as they once did.

Over the span of two nights I was able to hear New Found Glory’s first 4 albums in their entirely. These songs were the soundtrack to my High School and College years. The band sounds great. Good times.

Night number one New Found Glory performed their first album, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” (1999) and their third album “Sticks and Stones” (2002). I had so much fun hearing songs that I haven’t heard performed live before and songs that the band has never played live before.
