Baby Huey’s Movie Review For Wonder Woman

For the first time in Wonder Woman’s 75 year history of existence, she has been made into a live action solo movie. Gal Gadot has the honor of playing the most famous female superhero of all-time.

Wonder Woman is the fourth movie in the DC Extended Universe and this is the first female led superhero movie. Director Patty Jenkins had the tough task of delivering a DC Comics movie that both critics and fans can agree on loving and she lived up to the hype. Out of the four movies, this is by far the best film in the current DC Extended Universe.

The film has an entertaining plot and shows us Wonder Woman’s origin story. There is also a nice balance of action, drama and humor throughout the movie.

Gal Gadot gives a solid performance as Diana Prince. Not gonna lie, she is gorgeous and her beauty shines through this movie especially during dark moments which helps lift the spirits of everyone around her. During humorous moments, when she smiles, it put me in a better mood as well. While Gal Gadot’s acting skills have come into question ever since she was casted in this role, she delivered on what was needed out of this character to show us who Diana Prince is and I can’t wait to see her role in future movies. Gal Gadot’s real life accent and her acting style fitted perfectly on showing Wonder Woman’s fish out of water personality during the second act. The on screen chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine was very fun, including her scenes with other characters and she proved she can be a leading character.

Visually this movie was breath taking to watch and I loved the brighter feel to this movie compared to the last three DC Comics movies. Even though at times I felt they over did it with the slow motion scenes, the overall special effects were outstanding and help remind us how powerful Wonder Woman is.

I loved how this movie helps establish hope and gives us a reason to believe in DC Comics Superheroes again. As we see Wonder Woman learn about the events in the world outside from her home island, she becomes upset with the conflict and uses that as motivation to want to save people and make things right. This serves as the foundation on why we should care about her and cheer her on, something that has been missing in previous DC Comics movies.

Moving forward I hope more of the DC Comics Superheroes adapt the same values as Wonder Woman posses to help remind us why we love these characters and giving us reasons to cheer them on as they are trying to save the day. During the second act, there is a battlefield scene that is one of the best superhero scenes in a long time and will give you goosebumps.

Wonder Woman represents a breakthrough for women led superhero movies and now we have a strong female lead character that anyone can get behind and support. I’m just happy to see the DC Extended Universe heading in the right direction and hope when Justice League comes out in November we will see a similar movie.

I would rate the film: 8.5/10
