Chad Kroeger hits back at Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor in a recent interview, claiming his former labelmate has fired shots of his own in the past.
Kroeger begins by extolling Nickelback’s musical diversity. When he challenged Metal Covenant to name another band doing anything like that, Stone Sour came up.
Yeah, beacuse they’re trying to be like Nickelback. They’re okay, but they’re not as good as Nickelback. They sound like ‘Nickelback Lite.’ They had to put on masks and jump around. How good can your music be if you’ve got to beat each other up on stage, throw up in your own masks every night? Music shouldn’t come with a gimmick.
And he got tired of sitting behind a mask — he wanted people to know what he looks like — so he started Stone Sour.”
Note: Corey Taylor founded Stone Sour in 1992, five years prior to joining Slipknot.
Both Nickelback and Stone Sour have albums with June 2017 release dates.
