Nikki Sixx announced that he is stepping down from the touring spotlight to spend time with his family, but he will continue to make music away from the stage.
The bassist of Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M. shared his decision on Facebook, stating, “I have no immediate plans to tour unless I get a wild hair up my ass or something or somebody really inspirational comes along.”
He went on to say, “So I guess I’m unofficially retired or maybe just expired at this time…Nice to give 100% of my time to my wife and kids.”
Sixx has also been recovering from a hip replacement surgery after going under the knife in April.
On April 14, he spoke about the operation on his radio show, “Sixx Sense,” saying, “The bone had just basically disintegrated from where they sawed it off and from where it was bone-on-bone. So I’d actually earned this surgery.”
Although he doesn’t plan on touring, Sixx will be busy away from the spotlight, stating, “Got a couple Sixx:A.M. albums coming out soon and one book this year.”
