Baby Huey’s Movie Review For Transformers: The Last Knight

Love it or hate it, Michael Bay is back with his 5th installment of his Transformers film series with Transformers: The Last Knight.

Premise:

Autobots and Decepticons are at war, with humans on the sidelines. Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.

The cast includes:

Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager

Anthony Hopkins as Sir Edmund Burton

Laura Haddock as Viviane Wembly

Josh Duhamel as William Lennox

Isabella Moner as Izabella

Autobots:

Peter Cullen voices Optimus Prime

Erik Aadahl voices Bumblebee

John Goodman voices Hound

Before you see this movie I recommend you see 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction so you can have a better understanding who this current cast is.

The Last Knight delivers everything you would want to see in a Transformers movie, specifically over the top action scenes and special effects with a ton of side characters mixed in with sub plots that have no reason to be told in the first place. On top of that, bad and forced jokes and actors who look like are mailing it in for a paycheck, hot female lead actress and the main character who is just a regular guy but has the ability to run around and do superhero type stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, I love action movies and Michael Bay is good at Directing those type of movies, but I was sitting there and noticed it was just action scene, explosion, special effects, repeat and after a while it became white noise on the big scene. I need some substance from the story to keep me engaged.

Fait warning, Optimus Prime is not in this movie a lot, you see him at the beginning and the third act. The ending was exciting to watch but as I was watching it, it reminded me beat for beat like the ending of Man of Steel or Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Listen, if you love the previous Transformers movies, you will probably love this one too, because in the end these movies are all the same. It fits in perfectly with all the other big summertime blockbuster movies and you can get lost watching this film while eating a big bucket of popcorn.

I hope in the near future there is a reboot or at least a fresh set of eyes making future Transformers movies, so we can get a new direction of the film series.

I would rate the film: 4.5/10

Go see Transformers: The Last Knight when the movie hits theaters on Wednesday, June 21st.
