Foo Fighters set to play at the ancient Greek Acropolis

Foo Fighters announced Friday that they will be playing a concert at the historic Acropolis in Athens, Greece on July, 10 as part of PBS’s documentary series Landmarks Live in Concert, airing this fall.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now and the proceeds will benefit a local Greek charity.

The series is hosted by Red Hot Chili Pepper’s drummer, Chad Smith. Along with footage of the concerts, he conducts interviews with the various artists as well as highlighting the local areas.

Daniel E. Catullo, creator, director and executive producer of the series was excited about the opportunity of having the Foo Fighters play at the Acropolis.

“I’ve always wanted to work with the Foo Fighters and do a show in Greece,” Catullo said. “Having both wishes come true in the same episode is a huge moment for me. When I first came up with the idea for the series, this is exactly what I had in mind — a legendary band playing a legendary venue. We’ve had some incredible shows so far, but this one officially sets our standard at a new level.”

The Foo Fighters also recently announced the release of their newest LP, Concrete and Gold and released the song “Run” and played another new song, “La Dee Da” featuring Alison Mosshart of the Kills, at a recent show in Iceland.

Concrete and Gold is scheduled for release on September 15.
