After a boring month of movies in August, the first big release for September is the remake of the Stephen King novel “It.”

This is a remake of the 1990 mini series of the same name and right off the bat I have to say this, I loved this movie. It was one of my most anticipated movies of the year and it didn’t disappoint.

I never read the novel but from what I read on Wikipedia this movie focused on the best parts from the original novel and cut out all the weird things. The pacing of the movie was fast and I never got bored.

The best part of the movie was the kids aka “The Losers” and their interaction with one another. Great casting because all of them showed fun chemistry with each other. As the story progresses we really become attached to the losers and care for them on where this journey takes them.

The movie presented these kids as underdogs trying to stop this demonic clown.

Also, the parents/adults in the movie are like the adults in Peanuts, they are hardly around. When they do come on screen they have their own issues or are useless for any kind of help.

Overall, I love the 80’s horror movie vibe to it. If you love coming of age movies like The Goonies, Stand By Me or TV shows like Stranger Things, then you will enjoy this movie as well.

The use of practical effects made this movie more believable and the special effects they did use appeared very seamless.

Bill Skarsgard did a tremendous job playing Pennywise, he was scary and creepy.

There was a lot of jump at you scary moments, but also a lot of creepy themes the kids were forced to deal with.

This movie should carry us through Halloween.

I would rate the film: 8.5/10

Go see It when the movie hits theaters on Friday, September 8th.
