This past Saturday night the Bay Area’s own Tsunami Bomb played a hometown sold out show at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. It’s been almost 15 years since I last saw Tsunami Bomb, it was at the 2003 Vans Warped Tour at Piers 30/32 in San Francisco. Since the band reunited in 2015 they have only played a couple Bay Area dates, needless to say I was excited to relive my teenage years and hear (and sing along too) all of Tsunami Bomb’s timeless hits and they didn’t disappoint. I geeked out so hard when they started their set with “The Invasion From Within” which was the first song I ever heard by them when a friend of mine gave me a burnt CD of their EP of the same name in High School. The original rhythm section of Dominic Davi and Gabriel Lindeman sounded amazing, both of their energy were great, the crowd fed off of Dominic bouncing around on the stage. New guitarist Andy Pohl ripped through every song perfectly and looks like to be a great match for the band. Last but not least, new lead singer Kate Jacobi was outstanding, along with Dominic, she marked her territory all over the stage and was jumping around all over plus she got the crowd to sing along to every song as well. I have to give her props, it’s always tough for a new lead singer to join a band, but she has been killing it and has earned her place in the band. Kate sounds awesome on the older songs and I loved hearing the new songs as well. I can’t wait to see what Tsunami Bomb has in store for the rest of 2018.
