Billie Joe Armstrong Releases More New Music

It’s been a busy 2018 for Billie Joe Armstrong. While in 2016 Green Day released their latest album, “Revolution Radio” and in 2017 they spent the year touring the world, it seemed the beginning of 2018 was going to be pretty quiet. Instead Billie Joe kept the momentum going, first member of Green Day formed The Coverups, a cover’s band that didn’t take any requests and played three shows at The Ivy Room in Albany and one show at Thee Parkside in San Francisco. After that what was next for members of Green Day was unknown.

However, that all changed when earlier this month Billie Joe Armstrong revealed in a series of posts on his personal Instagram account that he was launching a new band called The Longshot. Shortly after a Longshot Instagram account was also created. A couple weeks later the band released a three song EP and played a surprised show at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland, followed by a second show at Thee Parkside in San Francisco and a third show at The Ivy Room in Albany. Last week they surprised everyone and out of nowhere released their debut album “Love Is For Losers.”

When The Longshot was first announced, besides Billie Joe Armstrong, the remaining members were unknown. That mystery was solved after their performance at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland, the entire world knew who made up the rest of the band. Billie Joe Armstrong on Vocals/Guitar, Kevin Preston on Guitar, Jeff Matika on Bass and David Field on Drums.

The Longshot’s debut album “Love Is For Losers” is out now and is available for streaming or download.

In less than a couple weeks The Longshot released an EP, a full album, played a handful of live shows in the Bay Area and announced a month long tour in May. That’s plenty of material to digest through. Nope, recently, Billie Joe Armstrong posted on Instagram to announce he was releasing more songs, demos and covers on The Longshot’s SoundCloud page.
