Premise: In the first season, Frank Castle, known throughout New York City as “the Punisher” after exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his family, uncovers a larger conspiracy beyond what was done to him and his family. The second season sees Castle, who has been living a quiet life on the road, drawn into the mystery surrounding the attempted murder of Amy Bendix, forcing him to decide if he should embrace his life as the Punisher.
He isn’t the one who dies. He’s the one that does the killing.
Season 2 of Marvel’s The Punisher debuts exclusively on Netflix January 18th.

I loved Season 1 of The Punisher, Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle is very gritty, grounded and a total badass. From his first appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil to landing his own spin-off show (due to his popularity from the Daredevil TV show), many fans say Jon Bernthal is the best live action version of The Punisher to date. If you remember from the trailer for Season 1 of The Punisher they used Metallica’s “One.” The perfect song to use as the soundtrack to sum up the themes from the first season, including post traumatic stress from war, violence and revenge. Keeping in that same style, the trailer for Season 2 used another rock banger in the form of Alice In Chains “Would?” Once again, a perfect choice, the eerie grunge classic captures the emotions, drama and action fans can expect to see in Season 2.
As I mentioned before, I’m excited to finally see Season 2 of The Punisher, but part of me is worried because with the recent cancellations of the other Marvel shows on Netflix: Daredevil, Luke Cake, Iron Fist, one would speculate that within a few weeks after Season 2 drops, The Punisher might receive the same fate. In the meantime, let’s not dwell on it, instead let’s enjoy the upcoming second season.
Also, I’m surprised that Netflix is finally releasing the first official trailer for Season 2 of The Punisher only a week before it is scheduled to be released on Netflix. Usually new trailers come out a couple months before a season premieres. This has me thinking, are they trying to quietly get through the release of this season before announcing a quick cancellation? Only time will tell.
