It’s almost time, folks. In just about a month the San Francisco 49ers will begin training camp. According to The Athletic‘s Matt Barrows, the 49ers will begin training camp on July 26.
The team’s first preseason game will take place at home against the Dallas Cowboys on August 10, with the final roster cuts due August 31. In between that time, the 49ers will play the Denver Broncos on the road on August 19, the Kansas City Chiefs on the road on August 24, and the Los Angeles Chargers at home on August 29 to conclude the preseason action.
Per the NFL, the #49ers will start training camp on July 26. Other important dates:
* 7/15 Last day for franchised players to sign long-term deals
* 8/10 First preseason game vs. Dallas
* 8/31 Teams must trim rosters to 53 players
* 9/4 Teams submit first practice/injury report— Matt Barrows (@mattbarrows) June 24, 2019
The 49ers have a number of questions to answer after finishing tied for the second-worst record in the NFL last season (4-12), following early season-ending torn ACL injuries to both starting running back Jerick McKinnon (in practice, about a week before the first regular season game) and starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs). Training camp will be the first opportunity to see the full team in action at full speed and contact.
