Marquise Goodwin wins $1 million in 40-yard dash competition

He’s been saying it for years, but now Marquise Goodwin might have a legitimate claim to the title of the fastest man in the NFL.

In a pay-per-view event in Florida Saturday night Goodwin raced against 15 other football players in a series of 40-yard dash races. The field included some big names such as Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn Jr. and Dominique Rogers-Cromartie. Instead of running against the clock like prospects do at the NFL combine, the players ran in 1-on-1 races with the grand prize of $1 million.

The event, titled 40 Yards of Gold, pitted eight offensive athletes and eight defensive against each other on different sides of a bracket. Goodwin made it to the finals by winning the offensive side of the bracket and beat Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson by .05 seconds to win the event. 49ers wide receiver Richie James also ran in the event.

Goodwin ran a blazing fast 4.27 40 at the combine back in 2013, and represented America in the long jump at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday for Goodwin.
