We all miss concerts dearly, and that’s putting it lightly. Luckily, a couple of Bay Area friends figured out a new and inventive way to experience live music while we make our way through the pandemic! They’re calling it “Concert Delivery” because they bring the live music to a sidewalk or driveway near YOU. It’s the brainchild of local musician Andrew St. James and his friend, Ashley Graham (who works for the Fillmore and Masonic), and they’ve been doing it since May.
Here’s how it works:
First: Check out Andrew’s Instagram account, where he’ll be announcing which days he’s heading out. Anyone can direct message him their address in hopes of arranging a stop!
Next: They hit as many spots as they can, socially distancing of course, play a few songs, then head to the next stop. They play until the requests diminish, or the sun goes down!
St. James and his guitarist, Scott Padden, have played free shows around the Bay Area from the bed of a pickup truck, in front of movie theaters, on sidewalks, in driveways, from the back of minivans, or wherever they can find space.
Everyone agrees that it will be a while until live concerts can be enjoyed as we once knew them, so the spontaneous, live, outdoor performances seem like nice experiences in the meantime. Find the full story here.
