AC/DC Obsessed Super Fan’s Goal In Life? To Replicate Angus Young’s Guitar Sound

Ever hear of the Schaffer-Vega diversity wireless guitar system? Fil Olivieri knows it well now, as it was the secret ingredient to his life long goal to replicate Angus Young’s guitar sound. Fil is a huge AC/DC fan – one of the biggest. He grew up in Italy in the late 70’s, and became obsessed with the band after hearing “If You Want Blood” in a store. He wanted to play just like Angus, but mastering his exact sound proved to be more difficult than he originally thought. He tried everything he could think of to duplicate the guitar. Like reading guitar magazines, listening to isolated guitar riffs, and testing out different amps and effects. But nothing worked. Then one day, he heard an interview with Young who said “I just use a Schaffer-Vega” and poof, mystery solved. Consequence of Sound interviewed the super fan in depth, and you can read the whole thing here.
