Live Nation Turns Concert Venues Into Polling Places for 2020 Election

The 2020 election: it’s the most important election of our lifetimes, regardless of which side you support. With news of the potential for low voter turnout or voter fraud due to COVID-19 and complications with the mail and/or mail-in voting, (accusations being made from both sides), Live Nation has decided to step up and follow suit with sports venues around the country and put their empty concert venues to use.

They will temporarily turn venues into polling places for the 2020 election since most venues are spacious and can allow people to vote with less fear of contracting the coronavirus. So far, confirmed venues are: The Wiltern and Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, The Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta, and Emo’s in Austin, and Live Nation is looking at over 100 venues total across the country to be converted. The giant concert promoters are also providing employees with paid time off to vote, incentivizing employees to serve as poll workers, and partnering with organizations on voter access and educational efforts.

“Core to what we do at Live Nation is helping amplify voices on stage around the world, and supporting voting is another important way we want to continue making voices heard,” said Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation. “We’re honored to work with such incredible partners and will do everything in our power to support and empower voter engagement among our employees and the public.” Read the full article from Rolling Stone Magazine here, or get additional information about Live Nation’s civic efforts here.
