The 49ers’ nightmare just became reality. Nick Bosa, the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year, was carted off the field in the first quarter of the Jets’ Week 2 matchup with the New York Jets. He was followed shortly by Solomon Thomas.
Bosa was locked in an extended block with Jets tight end Trevon Wesco. At the end of the block, as Bosa was backpedaling, his left foot became stuck in the artificial turf and hyperextended. Bosa immediately went down, holding his left knee. He got up, but immediately went back down to the ground in pain. He was carted off the field.

Two plays later, Solomon Thomas was also carted off the field. He had a rush push him to the outside and caught his left leg under those of Jets right tackle George Fant. Both Bosa and Thomas have been ruled out for the remainder of the game. With Dee Ford also out, the 49ers will lean heavily on Kerry Hyder and Kentavius Street or support on the edge.
