Owner of Ricky’s in San Leandro Passed Away, Longtime Friend of The BONE

If you’re an East Bay sports fan, you may have spent some time at Ricky’s Sports Theatre & Grill in San Leandro to watch a game or hang out with friends. If you’re a Warriors fan, you may remember Ricky’s as the famous location of the 2015 Bone promotion, “Beat the Cavalier,” where we invited friends and fans out to “beat” an old Chevy Cavalier with a baseball bat. The event raised money for an anti-bullying program, but the idea was generated because the Warriors were playing the Cavs in the NBA Finals.

Regardless of the why or when, many Bay Area residents spent quality time at Ricky’s over the years, and built great memories at the local sports bar. That’s why The BONE crew was so sad to hear the news that owner Ricky Ricardo passed away on Saturday from complications of Alzheimer’s disease at 75 years old. Ricky was a character and beloved by many, and his memory will live on in the East Bay sports scene forever. Read the full story here.
