We don’t talk a lot about science, biology, or nature here at 107.7 The Bone. But sometimes a story comes along that grabs our attention, and we just feel the need to share it with you. Even if it’s about a reptile. So here goes.
There’s a special, extra-tiny, little chameleon called Brookesia nana. It’s found in the rainforest of Madagascar and is potentially endangered, and very rare. Scientists have been studying it carefully and published a discovery recently about the “evolution of genital size in chameleons” for Scientific Reports. The takeaway? Even though the male Brookesia nana “might be the smallest reptile in the world, it has disproportionately large genitals.” The female is around 1.13 inches long, and the male is approximately less than an inch long. Reports say the males have “a pair of penises – that measured around .09 inches long when fully exposed.” You can read all about these amazing little creatures and their personal matters here at huffpost.com.
