Can you get possibly more 80’s than a David Bowie mega hit that was produced by Nile Rodgers and features Stevie Ray Vaughan? We think not, but this unique isolated version of the song gives a focused appreciation for two of the greatest artists of their times.
Without the bongos and heavy synth bass track, Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ takes on a slightly ethereal feel, a hymnal pop song for the musically religious. A fitting feeling really to honor the late Bowie and Vaughan.
What makes this version of the track even more inspiring is way Vaughan’s solo still holds so much power and rhythm despite the lack of a powerful rhythm section. True understanding of his genius is on full display here in this wonderful recording.
The then-unknown Stevie would rise to prominence through this fortuitous collaboration as ‘Let’s Dance’ would go on to top the charts in both the U.S. and the U.K.
