Giants announce fans no longer need negative COVID-19 test to attend games

We’re inching ever closer towards normalcy. The 2021 Giants season saw fans return to the stadium for the first time since 2019, and capacity, initially capped at around 22 percent, has increased slightly, to nearly 10,000 tickets per game.

Previously (and currently), the team has required fans to be either fully vaccinated or to provide proof of a recent, negative COVID-19 test to gain admission to the park. By this weekend, that will change.

The team announced on Tuesday that starting with the team’s series against the Dodgers starting on Friday, fans in socially distanced sections will not have to prove they have tested negative for COVID-19 to attend games.

The following is from the Giants:

“SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Starting with the Dodgers series this Friday, May 21, fans seated in socially distanced sections will NO LONGER be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test or vaccination for entry into Oracle Park. Fans sitting in fully vaccinated sections will still be required to show proof that they have completed their full vaccination regimen.

Tickets will go on public sale this Friday, May 21 at 10 a.m. PDT for the Angels (May 31 – June 1); Cubs (June 3-6); Diamondbacks (June 14-16); and Phillies (June 18-20).  Visit sfgiants.com/tickets for all ticket options.

Special events and celebrations during these games will include Lou Gehrig Day on June 3; SF Pride Day on June 5; and African American Heritage Day on June 19.  The first 9,000 fans who attend the June 20 game against the Phillies will receive a Father’s Day cap presented by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream.

Please visit sfgiants.com/fansafe for detailed information on fully vaccinated section requirements and other game protocols as mandated by the State of California and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Fans should plan ahead, arrive early and come prepared with required documentation if they are sitting in a fully vaccinated section.

Walk-up ordering is available at all food and beverage concessions; however, mobile food ordering from the seats through the MLB Ballpark app is highly encouraged. Face coverings are required at all times, except while actively eating or drinking.

Fans should also plan their trip to and from Oracle Park with transportation service modifications in mind.  Please go to sfgiants.com/transportation.”
