Believe it or not…at one point, Jimi Hendrix opened for the Monkees!

In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Monkee Micky Dolenz revealed that things had changed for Hendrix a year after he opened for them. “I said, ‘Hey, that’s the guy that plays the guitar with his teeth!,’” recalled Dolenz. “He blew everybody away, of course.” Even the Monkees thought having Hendrix paired with them was weird, since the crowd was made up of “mostly 12-year-old little girls.”

Would you have gone to a Monkees/Jimi Hendrix concert? Do you think they should have written music together?
