Beatles’ Lyrics Heading to Space

YouTube, @The Beatles.

The words of the Beatles are going into space.

NASA’s first mission to the Trojan asteroids of Jupiter will be carrying some of the band’s most prolific words, meant to inspire humanity in the future. The Lucy spacecraft will launch in October, and was recently tricked out with a plaque that is inscribed with quotes from band members.

The plaque reads, “And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.” – Paul McCartney.  “We all shine on . . . like the moon and the stars and the sun.” – John Lennon. “ Peace and love.” – Ringo Starr.  “When you’ve seen beyond yourself then you may find peace of mind is waiting there.” – George Harrison.”

Lucy was named for a fossil skeleton, but officials say the name was also inspired by The Beatles’ 1967 song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”

If you could send something into space, what would it be?
