Journey’s ‘Escape’ Now Certified Diamond

Journey’s classic album Escape – featuring hits like “Open Arms” and “Don’t Stop Believin'” – has officially achieved Diamond status. This week, the RIAA certified the 1981 album diamond – awarded for sales of 10 million copies or equivalent units.

A big part of that is the continued success of “Don’t Stop Believin'”, which has been streamed more than a billion times on Spotify.  It’s Journey’s second certified Diamond album, along with their 1988 Greatest Hits collection. Guitarist Neal Schon called it “a truly gratifying achievement for all the work we did together”.

Why is “Don’t Stop Believin'” still such an iconic hit all these years later?
