Former REO Speedwagon guitarist Gary Richrath has released a new song – in spite of the fact that he’s been dead for five years. The Richrath Project’s “Help Me Save Me from Myself” was reportedly penned by Richrath and singer Michael Jahnz for the follow-up to the 1992 album “Only the Strong Survive.” However, the project – which was to be called “L.A. Is Mine” — ever materialized. But that’s expected to change soon, Jahnz says.

“I dusted off a few of those never-before-heard tracks that Gary and I recorded in my studio, and we started working on them,” Jahnz says. “I had the idea, with today’s technology, to try to somehow include Gary’s actual guitar on this album. I went to my sound engineer with the idea, and sure enough, he was able to isolate and pull off Gary’s guitar.” A release date for the album has not yet been announced.

Will fans be interested in this album after all these years? Does the first single from the album sound dated to you
