The Ronnie James Dio hologram tour is ‘on hold’ for the time being, according to the late singer’s widow.

Wendy Dio says the hologram was expensive – costing nearly $2 million – and too large to bring to countries like Brazil or Japan.  The tour was also met with mixed reviews and poor ticket sales.

Wendy say the Dio band is planning something different for the next tour – working with “a film of Ronnie himself with the Dio live band and special effects”.

Did you see the Dio hologram or any other hologram tours?  Will the technology ever be good enough to catch on?
