McGlinchey says Sunday’s downpour wasn’t the worst weather he’s played in

The conditions at Levi’s Stadium for last Sunday’s 49ers-Colts game were pretty insane, but not the worst Mike McGlinchey has ever experienced. The Michigan native told Lamont and Tonelli that he once played in such frigid conditions in high school that his hands and feet froze.

“In high school I played in probably like seven or eight inches of snow and slush once in my junior year,” McGlinchey said. “That was pretty miserable because your hands froze and your feet froze cause it was wet and ice.

“College I actually didn’t play in the game cause I was a freshman and I was redshirting that year, but on our senior day we played BYU and it was probably negative 20 outside, hailing winds. That was worse because like I said I wasn’t playing, so I was just standing on the sideline freezing because I couldn’t move.”

Making matters worse, McGlinchey felt like he couldn’t stand by the heaters and warm himself up.

“You try not to be the guy that’s huddled up by the heaters because when you’re a young guy you want to show the coaches that you care about being into the game and all of that stuff, so you try to tough it out as much as possible.”
