Roger Daltrey Says Rolling Stones are “a mediocre pub band”

Roger Daltrey of The Who has harsh criticism of The Rolling Stones.

In an interview with the ‘Coda Collection,’ Daltrey said, “…as a band, if you were outside a pub and you heard that music coming out of a pub some night, you’d think, ‘Well, that’s a mediocre pub band!’”

Before the actual criticism of the band as a whole, though, he had kind words for frontman Mick Jagger. “You’ve got to take your hat off to him,” said Daltrey. “He’s the number one rock ‘n’ roll performer.”

This comes just after Beatle Paul McCartney called the Stones a “blues cover band.”

Why do you think these big names are being so critical of The Rolling Stones? Do you agree with Daltrey’s statements?
