Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson made an… interesting comparison when discussing his band’s loyal fan base.
In a recent interview posted to YouTube, Dickinson compared his fans to plywood. Yes, plywood.
Here’s the quote: “I would say that Iron Madien fans are a little bit like plywood — we get a new layer every year, and they all just stick together, so eventually we get a table that’s, like, ten feet thick. And people are going, ‘How did you end up with a table ten feet thick?’ I said, ‘We just never lost a layer.‘”
Maiden definitely added a new layer of plywood in 2021. The band’s latest album, Senjutsu, was their highest-charting album ever and one of the top-selling rock records of the year.
What year did you become an Iron Maiden fan? Who are some other bands that continue to gain new fans year after year?
