Welcome back to a brand new episode of BONE-A-Fide Brews! We’re back and bigger than ever this year and to start off a brand new season, we are actually going to be going back and revisiting with one of our previous guests. Today’s episode is a revisit with Dan Littlefield and Jesse Jones of Hop Dogma Brewing out in Half Moon Bay. Now of course we have already heard the story of how they got their start, but if you are new to the brewery click here for the original episode.
I have known both Dan and Jesse for quite some time, but just like a few of my colleagues in the beer industry, I haven’t been able to catch up with them in, much like a lot of us haven’t been able to catch up with family members and friends during this pandemic. As you listen to the episode, though they also saw struggles with the brewery, you’ll hear how Dan and Jesse got through the pandemic emotionally and mentally. I’m sure a lot of us had to deal with some sort of depression, but thankfully for the crew at Hop Dogma, they found multiple outlets to combat “Covid Fatigue”.
Over the past couple of years since we last spoke, Jesse has been focusing on being a dad. Just like myself, Jesse and his wife welcomed their firstborn son back in 2020. While that was happening as well, Dan and Jesse, to pass the time, would bring out instruments and have their employees join in and play, which would later become their current project, “The False Bottom Band” where they play bluegrass and country music! And to top it all off, one of their beers took home a medal from the Great American Beer Festival!
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed catching up with some of my closest beer friends. And don’t forget to get over to the taproom if you are ever in the El Granada area on the coast.
Cheers \m/,
Joe Hawk
