Daughter Of RCHP Drummer Chad Smith Auditions For ‘American Idol’

The daughter of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is trying to launch a music career of her own.

Ava Maybee Cardoso-Smith appeared on Sunday’s episode of American Idol, auditioning with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately”.

Ava impressed the judges – Lionel Richie compared her to Cher, while Luke Bryan said he was “interested to hear and see more”.  In the end, she got a ‘yes’ from all three judges to advance to the next round.

The 20-year-old Ava already records her own music and has sung the national anthem at a Lakers game.

Do you still watch American Idol?  Did you follow in your parents’ career footsteps?
