Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea shared his memories of Taylor Hawkins in a UK radio interview.

He remembered a music teacher friend telling him about Hawkins long before the future Foo Fighter was famous: “He said ‘Man there’s this kid here selling guitar strings and he’s a star. He’s a drummer and I’m telling you he’s going to be a rock star’ and it was Taylor.

Flea said their bands toured together multiple times and that Hawkins was especially close with RHCP drummer Chad Smith.
