Nikki Sixx Says Band Is ‘Proud’ Of Tommy Lee For Playing Hurt

Although Tommy Lee made it through only five songs before hastily exiting the stage during the first stop on Motley Crue’s “Stadium Tour,” Nikki Sixx says he and the rest of the band are proud of Lee for showing up at all.

That’s because Lee was playing hurt after breaking four ribs. He’s vowed to play as long as he can at all of the shows on the tour. “The fact that Tommy was told by the doctor to not play with four broken ribs and he beasted half our show is a miracle,” Sixx says. “We are a band and are proud of his strength. He is doing the whole tour and day by day, adding more songs. What a f***ing animal. Anybody out there ever break your ribs?”

The band has enlisted Black Sabbath drummer Bill Clufetos to take over for Lee at each stop.
