Tom Petty’s ‘Don’t Come Around Here No More’ Is About Stevie Nicks And Joe Walsh

YouTube, @Tom Petty.

Turns out one of Tom Petty’s biggest hits was about a celebrity breakup.

The 1985 song “Don’t Come Around Here No More” is about the split between Stevie Nicks and Joe Walsh – inspired by an ‘intense fight’ after a party at Nick’s home.

Nicks used that exact phrase – ‘don’t come around here no more’ – after giving Walsh the boot.  Petty would later write the song with Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart after hearing the story.

What are some other songs with interesting backstories?
