It was the play of the year for the 49ers.
Deebo Samuel’s 57-yard touchdown catch and run electrified Levi’s Stadium and was the catalyst for San Francisco’s 24-9 win over rival Los Angeles on Monday night.
It also provided an opportunity for Mike McGlinchey to do some trash talking to Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey after the play.
“Well I just had a perfect view of the play,” McGlinchey said on 107.7 The Bone Thursday morning. “I had finished blocking for the pass and Deebo caught it and took off, just kind of one by one saw him break tackles all over the place and it didn’t seem like they wanted to tackle him. So, I just kind of let him know about it.”
McGlinchey says that trash talking is the norm between division rivals.
“It’s just one of those things. They were down a good bit of points, we had a good night, and there’s always a good bit of chippiness with those guys. It’s a relationship that’s been established over the last three or four years. Definitely high tempers and high emotions whenever we play those guys and it just makes for the game to be a lot of fun.”
