The Office Once Paid $25,000 For A Single Billy Joel Line

The Office was willing to go a long way for a joke – even a very expensive one.

On the latest episode of the Office Ladies podcast, hosts Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey revealed that the show once paid $25,000 for Steve Carell to sing one line – just one line! – of a Billy Joel song.

The episode was 2010’s “WUPHF.com”, in which Michael Scott sings “Oh, but it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for” from Joel’s “You May Be Right”.

It’s not the first time The Office has shelled out for a classic rock tune – an earlier episode saw them pay a whopping 60 grand for Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets To Paradise”.
