While airing his grievances on Twitter, Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows somehow got on the nerves of Swifties, a nickname given to fans of Taylor Swift.
M. Shadows took to the social media platform to discuss how artists selling multiple versions of albums are attempting to boost chart positions, going as far as to label it “fan abuse”.
He follows up with more clarity, “I’ll expand: many options are fine. It’s when it becomes: buy the vinyl for ticket discounts…buy the cd version 1 for an extra track. Buy first week 8 track for an exclusive t shirt. It’s all bulls*** to make you buy the same shit to pump numbers. That’s f****ed!”
Now, with the recent success of Taylor Swift’s newest album, her fanbase thought that the metal frontman was aiming at her directly, but when first asked if he was targeting a specific artist he responded with:
Swift fans challenged M. Shadows claiming Swift would have hit the charts with or without the multiple releases. M. Shadows agrees that she deserves her success, but after more and more Swifties bombard his Twitter feed he finally says this:
What do you think? Do you think Taylor Swift is guilty of this? Are you as a consumer guilty of falling trap to this sort of “Fan Abuse?”
