Neil Young says he has no regrets after pulling his music from Spotify over vaccine misinformation.
In a new interview, the rocker talked about the service’s fidelity explaining, “I knew I was gonna do fine. There’s Amazon, there’s Apple, there QoBuz, those are three streaming services that play hi-res. And it sounds better at the other places. Why would I want to keep it on Spotify when it sounds like a pixilated movie?”
When Young said, “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” in response to Spotify allowing Rogan to remain on the service when he was criticized for spreading vaccine misinformation, Spotify sided with Rogan.
“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users,” said a Spotify spokesperson. “With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.”
Young and his band Crazy Horse will release the new album, “World Record” this Friday, November 18th. On December 2nd, he’ll put out a 50th-anniversary deluxe edition of his seminal album, “Harvest.”
