At long last, Metallica has officially announced its next album – and shared the first single.
On Monday, the band revealed the album’s title, 72 Seasons, release date of April 14, 2023, and a full track listing. They also shared the first single, the hard-riffing “Lux Æterna.” James Hetfield says 72 Seasons is about “The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves“.
The record clocks in at 12 tracks and over 77 minutes. It’s their first full album of new material since 2016’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.
Metallica also announced the massive ‘M72 World Tour’, launching in April 2023.
