Neal Schon Addresses Journey Fight: ‘It’s My Band’

Will Journey finally go Separate Ways? The fight between Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain seems to have no end in sight.

Schon and Cain have been publicly accusing each other of damaging the Journey brand – and Schon is sharing his opinion.

In a Twitter post, Schon said, “No one is going to dictate to me at this point what I can and cannot do in regards to Journey. I haven’t been here and not here to take orders- never have and never will. It’s my band and I’ll own it as I should and make the right changes as needed.”

In December, Schon filed a cease-and-desist order against Jonathan Cain after the keyboardist performed “Don’t Stop Believin’” at a Trump event at Mar-a-Lago in November. Schon claims Cain is damaging the Journey brand and polarizing the fan base: “Mr. Cain has no right to use Journey for politics. His politics should be his own personal business.”

It’s not the only legal battle going on either – earlier this year, Schon sued Cain over access to a band credit card. After Schon filed a lawsuit against Cain, claiming the keyboardist had set up a secret American Express account to give himself access to “millions of Journey funds,” Cain fired back.

In a statement, Cain says Schon’s lawsuit is filled with “malicious lies and personal attacks” – and claims he was forced to take control of the situation because of the guitarist’s “reckless spending.”

Despite the legal battles, Schon says the lawsuits will not break up the band.
