While it may have appeared the squabble between Journey’s members ended with Neal Schon’s announcement that original keyboardist Gregg Rolie would be returning to the lineup for the band’s 50th anniversary tour, it turns out not everyone is on board with the move.
Schon’s wife, Michaele, says two of her husband’s bandmates don’t want to replace Jonathan Cain with Rolie. In a social media message posted on Thursday, Michaele writes, “Two band members are ‘adamant NO’ fighting against Gregg Rolie to return. Everyone loves you, Gregg Rolie, and respects who you are and all you have been and are to Journey. For without you picking up Neal Schon from school, Journey would not exist.”
She hasn’t revealed the identities of the dissenting band members.
Schon announced his former bandmate would be returning to Journey about two weeks ago following a public feud with Cain over the band’s finances. However, on Tuesday, Cain told reporters he was still planning to hit the road with Journey in spite of Schon’s announcement.
