Vinyl Sales Begin to Slow Down in 2022

Vinyl records have been extremely popular in the last few years and that trend seems to be changing.

According to a report by Billboard, vinyl sales only grew 4.2% between 2021 and 2022 (from 41.72 million in 2021 to 43.46 million vinyls in 2022).

For reference, vinyl sales grew 46.2% between 2019 and 2020, and 51.4% between 2020 and 2021. So yes, vinyl is still massively popular, but growth is certainly leveling off after years of basically a straight line up.

Oddly enough, only roughly half the people buying vinyl actually own a record player.
