Queen’s Brian May Takes Credit for Thrash Metal

Queen has influenced countless rock bands over the years – but do the legendary British rockers deserve credit for inventing thrash metal?

Brian May says they just might, thanks to the band’s 1974 song “Stone Cold Crazy”. He told Guitar World, “I put this riff on it, which people are telling me is the birth of thrash metal or something! I don’t know about that…”

He might be on to something – “Stone Cold Crazy” was actually covered by Metallica as a b-side to the “Enter Sandman” single.

What are some other bands who were influenced by Queen? What bands *really* deserve the credit for inventing thrash metal? Share your opinions on 107.7 The Bone’s Facebook or Twitter page.
