Lynyrd Skynyrd is scheduled to play their first show since late guitarist Gary Rossington this weekend.

The band is set to headline the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida on Sunday, March 12th and the show is still on, according to festival organizers.

Rossington died Sunday at the age of 71. Addressing the last founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s death, the band released the following statement on Facebook,

“It is with our deepest sympathy and sadness that we have to advise, that we lost our brother, friend, family member, songwriter and guitarist, Gary Rossington, today. Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven and playing it pretty, like he always does. Please keep Dale, Mary, Annie and the entire Rossington family in your prayers and respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time.”

Skynyrd is scheduled to go on tour with ZZ Top later this year on the ‘Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour’.
