U2 Members Won’t Have to Testify in Songwriting Case

Bono and the rest of U2 will not be made to testify in a court case involving a Dublin man who claims he wrote one of the band’s songs.

Maurice Kiely claims he wrote the song “A Man And A Woman” – which appears on U2’s 2004 album “How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb” – in the ’90s.

His claims don’t stop there – Kiely also says he performed the song for supermodel Cindy Crawford, who he was (he claims) in a relationship with at the time. He then says he agreed to sell the song to U2 bassist Adam Clayton because the band didn’t have enough material for their new album.

U2’s attorney says Mr. Kiely has “No knowledge of the facts”, only “Memories of occurrences he believes to have taken place”.
