This year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Aerosmith’s debut album – and the band is celebrating by hitting the road.
Guitarist Joe Perry says plans are underway for him and his bandmates to launch a tour in September.
“I don’t know if I’m not supposed to announce it or not, but we are gonna announce the tour, and it’s gonna start in September and will go into next year,” Perry says. “And being one of the guys who votes on this kind of thing, it looks like we’re gonna do it.”
However, fans shouldn’t expect to see Joey Kramer – who stepped away from the band last year to focus on his family – onstage, Perry says. “It’s really hard,” he explains. “I mean, he’s still officially a member of the band, but I don’t think he’s gonna be sitting behind the drums, at least for this next run. Other than that, I really can’t say.”
Given Steven Tyler’s recent visit to rehab and the accusations made against him by a woman who claims they had sex when she was underage, is this a good time for Aerosmith to be touring? Share your opinions on 107.7 The Bone’s Facebook or Twitter page.
